Our Bespoke Services
At Wylde Jewellers, we have been designing and hand making beautiful bespoke jewellery since 1987, from toe rings to tiaras, for clients in the UK and all over the world!
Each store has a team of highly experienced designers, who will work with you at your first appointment to listen to your ideas and translate them into sketches and drawings right in front of your eyes. With their expertise, they will advise you both creatively and technically, and with Nicholas’s trade connections they have the resources at their fingertips to find any stones or materials at the best prices.
With workshops in both stores and a team of five highly-skilled goldsmiths, we work in all precious metals and other materials, working closely with the designers to bring your designs to life.
Most commissions take five weeks to make – but if you need something more urgently, our team will do all they can to help!
The Process

Make your appointment with us - we love to see our clients in our stores, where we will welcome you with a variety of hot or cold drinks, from coffee to champagne! If you can't make it to Bath or Clifton - not a problem! We are always happy to carry out appointments via video call on the platform of your choice.

You will meet with one of our designers, who will listen to your story, your ideas and talk to you about both the creative and practical side of what we can do for you. We can work to whatever your budget may be - there is no additional charge for our bespoke service as every piece of our jewellery is made in our workshops with the same precision and care. If you have a budget in mind, we will design within your requirements and recommend designs and gemstones accordingly. If you don’t have a clear budget in mind we will guide you through the options and advise you on the cost of various designs and gemstones to help you make a decision.

It's time to put pencil to paper! In front of your very eyes, your designer will produce sketches that will bring a variety of your ideas to life, presenting a variety of options until we have created the perfect piece for you. Once we have a design you're happy with and you wish to proceed, we will usually ask for a 50% deposit.

In both stores, we have a wide variety of diamonds and gemstones in our collection, ready for you to look through and choose at your appointment. However, if your design requires something else we can source stones from around the world – often straight from the source - to suit your requirements and budget. Nicholas has built strong relationships with our highly trusted suppliers across his decades in the business.

The next stage will often involve producing CAD (Computer Aided Decision) drawings. This modern technology allows us to create photo-realistic images of your creation and technical drawings with precise measurements, which will then be used to create the components of your piece.

The components are then cast in your chosen precious metal before being polished and ready for the setting of any stones.

Once the components of your jewellery have been prepared, they are ready for assembly in our on-site workshops in Bath and Bristol. Our team of five highly skilled goldsmiths with work to solder, assemble and polish your piece ready for the next stage.

At this stage, your carefully chosen gemstones are ready to set! We have two very highly skilled setters in our workshop teams, and it is the exquisite quality of the setting that will really make your piece stand out. In the image here, a gradient of tiny pink sapphires are being set into rose gold by Marcelo, radiating outwards from dark pink in the centre to lighter pink at the edges of the “petals”.

After one last inspection to ensure that your piece meets our high standards, your jewellery is ready for collection! A very exciting moment - this is when you finally get to see and wear the jewellery that you have helped to create.

Your Wylde experience doesn’t end when your jewellery has been handed over! When you are here, we will give you advice about how to best care for your new jewellery. After this, we offer you free lifetime cleaning and polishing of the item, as well as giving a complimentary valuation for all items costing over £2,500.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to make an appointment
Yes, please. The initial meeting can take anywhere between 1-2 hours, depending on the complexity and detail involved in the design, so we will need to allocate you a timeslot with one of our designers accordingly.
I can’t make it to your Bath or Bristol store – is there another way I can meet with you
Yes – we carry out a lot of our initial appointments for clients who live further afield via video call! Just let us know your preference when you’re booking your appointment.
How much does the initial consultation cost
Nothing – it is free! All of our appointments are without cost or obligation.
What budget will I need for a bespoke creation
We can work to whatever your budget may be – there is no additional charge for our bespoke service as every piece of our jewellery is made in our workshops with the same precision and care. If you have a budget in mind, we will design within your requirements and recommend designs and gemstones accordingly. If you don’t have a clear budget in mind, we will guide you through the options and advise you on the cost of various designs and gemstones to help you make a decision.
Can you make a piece from some existing jewellery I have
Absolutely – it’s one of our specialities! As Nicholas always says, jewellery is made to be worn and enjoyed, not to languish in a box or a drawer. Perhaps you have inherited some jewellery that just isn’t your style, or no longer wear a piece of your own jewellery but don’t want to sell it, for sentimental reasons. Our designers can turn your cherished pieces into something you will love wearing every day! If requested, we can also guarantee to use your own gold.
How long does the process take
Generally the process takes about 5 weeks from the initial meeting until collection of the item – this obviously varies, and if you need something urgently we will always try to help speed things along!
Can I choose my own stones
I don’t know where to start with design ideas! Will you be able to help
Of course! Our design team are very skilled at chatting to clients to get to understand their styles, and will be able to suggest a huge variety of options for you.
I’ve got an idea of what I want - can I bring my own sketches and photos in
Can you make absolutely anything
Our motto at Wylde’s is “If we can’t do it, nobody can!” We have created everything from flowers and animals, to family crest designs, to solid gold miniature cars with embedded gemstones, to mini replicas of famous landmarks! Beyond the constraints of what can physically be done with your chosen metals and stones, feel free to let your imagination run “Wylde”.
Is my jewellery made in your workshops or sent away
We have two on-site workshops – one in Bath and one in Bristol. Our teams of seven skilled craftspeople across the stores have all of the skills needed to create as much as possible within our workshops.
Other speciality companies we use to support the team would be the Assay office (for hallmarking), engravers, stringers, enamellers, casters and a lapidary.
Do you offer a guarantee period
All commissions are guaranteed for five years, unless agreed otherwise at the time of ordering.
What if I decide I don’t want or like the finished piece
If there is anything that you feel isn’t quite right, we would far prefer you to talk to us than to not wear your piece or feel unhappy with it.
We offer a three-month period where you can return to talk to your designer about having the item tweaked or even completely remade as a complimentary service. The only charge would be if your were to make changes that require additional materials or stones. We don’t offer a refund, but we work very closely with you to achieve what you desire.
What aftercare do you offer
We recommend that we check your jewellery every three years for any wear and tear anyway, but if you knock it or are concerned about anything, you are very welcome to come in and talk to one of our expert team.
We love seeing our jewellery – and our Wylde family – back in our stores!
