“How many couples begin with an eternity ring, then a wedding ring followed by an engagement ring?”
Relationships come in all shapes and sizes and can begin when you least expect it. We are capable of more love than we even know and great loves can happen to us more than once in a lifetimes. We recently had the pleasure of helping such a uniquely wonderful couple to symbolise their newfound love in a set of forever jewellery. Their love was so meant to be that it truly was love at first sight. Here, the bride describes their journey in her own words:
“It all began in March 2019 when we met online and chatted for 2 months following the untimely death of our partners andloneliness had set in. We finally agreed to meet locally, Rich stepping off the bus to greet me outside the beautiful church in Keynsham where I live. We began with tea, then lunch and ended up ordering a taxi after the last bus. He said it was love at first sight and proposed 5 days later which was wonderful and scary at the same time. We arranged a beautiful wedding in Bath’s Botanical Gardens, in The Roman Temple, attended by close friends & family, pre-covid restrictions of only 24 guests. A picnic of goodies from M&S and pink bubbly from Aldi in the sunshine ended our perfect day after just 3 months since our first date, with me wearing a vintage dress from Age UK, where I work and a huge smile. Richard looked handsome in an outfit we bought on our travels to Madrid, Prague and Croatia. We honeymooned in Wales in stunning Pembrokeshire and visited the house where my dad was born.
After an amazing first year together, we decided to visit a few local places following lockdown, Cheltenham, Chepstow and Bath was just a day trip shopping for a sofa to brighten up our conservatory, the eve of Boris bringing in new Covid rules which would restrict our shopping again. Rich had to shield and now I do due to being diagnosed with Parkinson’s 5 weeks before. We stumbled around the beautiful city with the echoes of angels in our ears leading me up and down the backstreets that I know so well. Somehow, we ended up at Wylde for a peak in the sparkly windows. We chose 2 rings that were unusual and received royal treatment from their amazing team, led by the charming Biagio. Spoilt for choice we decided to purchase both as one suited my right hand and blended with my freckles! The other icy pink on my left was just stunning. On return to collect the sized rings after only 2 hours we were surprised with champagne to celebrate our ‘engagement’ that we didn’t really have, a pink discreet wedding band to sit perfectly alongside my dear Grandma’s eternity ring that looked brand new again after the team cleaned it to its former glory.
We left the shop on cloud nine and felt more in love than we did 18 months ago. Despite all the setbacks we have had and a future in uncertain times we found love again in adversity. We look forward to returning to Wylde very soon to maybe buy Christmas gifts and to meet Mr Wylde himself.”
It’s moments like this that we see the true value of what we do. We are so honoured to have been able to celebrate a belated engagement with this lovely lovely couple and so grateful that they not only chose us for their sparkling new pieces of jewellery, but for sharing their inspiring story of love and positivity with us. It has been a true pleasure to serve them and we wish them the happiest and of marriages together.
