Jo & Terry met on a blind date in Kingsmead Square in October 2016, and when it came time to propose Terry saw it as only natural to go back to the same spot. On that first date Jo told us “he had been hilariously precise about meeting at 1:08pm (it took him 8 minutes to get to the square from his work) and so there was a running ‘nerd’ joke between us about this 1:08pm thing!” Roll forwards to Jo’s 46th birthday in July 2018 “he took me back to the exact spot on Kingsmead Square where we met at 1:08pm and got down on one knee, produced the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen and asked me if I’d marry him. The whole square saw what was happening and people were cheering and clapping – it was very lovely”.
The ‘Wylde’ engagement ring was a stunning rose gold ring with a chocolate diamond to the centre. “I live in Bath and have walked past your shop window many times. A friend has a beautiful engagement ring from you so I knew your pieces were lovely.” Luckily Terry knew she had a thing for chocolate diamonds, so she ended up with the exact stone she would’ve been after! In addition to this engagement ring, the couple also chose their two wedding rings with us, as well as a very special bespoke pendant that was made for Terry using the gold from Jo’s late father’s wedding ring.
In the run up to the wedding Jo began to secretly start the bespoke process for Terry’s pendant, that was to be his wedding day gift. She met and worked closely with one of our jewellery designers India, to create what would be an incredibly treasured piece of jewellery. “I cannot fault her in any way! She was genuinely friendly and super professional. She listened to the back story of my dad’s ring and why I wanted to turn it into something for my husband. She understood how valuable (sentimentally) the ring was to me. India grabbed my brief with both hands and I felt reassured that she could produce what was in my head! She has made exactly what I wanted – in fact it’s better and more perfect than I had hoped for.”
These beautiful pictures from their wedding day are from the ceremony at The Guidhall in Bath. “Planning the wedding was easy because we kept it very simple. 40 guests. Ceremony at The Guildhall and lunch at The Ivy afterwards. We wanted the day to be joyous, colourful, simple, fun and teeming with love.” The bride wore a fabulous and elegant jumpsuit, a contemporary alternative to the traditional white gown, and we absolutely love it! “I knew I didn’t want to get married in a dress – I love dresses but I guess I wanted to do something different for my wedding. I wanted to look bridal but in an elegant, simple way. I love wearing jumpsuits, so I bought 2 on eBay and my friend took the top of one and sewed it to the trousers of the other and ta dah! Its still hanging on our mirror in our bedroom – it’s so lovely. I hope to wear it again sometime (without the veil and rhinestone belt obvs!)”
Jo very kindly let us see the private film of the wedding day. It was full of smiles, colour, and lots and lots of love, just as they had wished, and was incredibly moving. The couple are so very clearly made for each other!
Jo said of their experience at Wylde’s “We are literally delighted with our Wylde experience. You have all taken such lovely care of us and shown genuine interest in who we are and our little love story. Our jewellery is utterly beautiful and we will wear it with pride and love forever. Thank you.”
We are so incredibly happy for this fantastic couple! Wishing you, Jo, Terry, and your beautiful daughters, the most marvellous of marriages and long and healthy lives together.
