The 1,000th stone
The 1,000th stone is our first ever coloured Wylde Flower Diamond®, in a beautiful fancy natural yellow. A long-standing customer of Wylde’s, Sue, H, purchased the stone. Sue had asked quite some time ago to reserve the 1,000th diamond when it became available! We mounted the stone into an exquisite, flower-shaped 18ct gold pendant, and set it on an articulated link, meaning the diamond is free to move from side to side. Against a backdrop of brilliant white natural pave-set diamonds, the yellow of the feature stone shines through beautifully.

“I can’t actually remember when I started visiting Nicholas Wylde and his fantastic jewellery business in Northumberland Place in Bath, but it was a very long time ago. I used to take pieces of jewellery along for a clean or repair and I would gaze at the fabulous creations in the window. In any event, that was a long time before the Wylde Flower Diamond® was created!
“I certainly knew of the new diamond cut when I went to an event in Bath and I bumped into Nicholas at the end of a very enjoyable evening. I asked if I could put my name against the 1000th stone and, as the current count was around 100, I knew that I had plenty of time to plan a design and to save some pennies. Over the years my taste in jewellery has changed and adapted. I continue to love all stones, including the brilliantly clear diamonds, but colour has become more important to me. I love to see colourful stones being used.
“When the call finally came that Nicholas was approaching the 1000th Wylde Flower Diamond®, I sent him an email with some designs and styles that I liked, and we met and focused on one in particular. But I wanted a coloured stone – something unique that would mark the achievement that Nicholas has reached. Nicholas was happy to source the stone and to have this cut by his cutter in Antwerp, after which the craftsmen in the Northumberland Place workshop moulded, set and polished the design… et voila! It was created.
“Thank you Nicholas for accompanying me on this creative journey. Of course it is true to say that I couldn’t have done this without the skill and expertise of you and your whole team. And the little drops of sunshine captured in the stones millions of years ago can now see the light of day and be enjoyed for many more years to come.”

Alongside the pendant, Sue had a matching pair of earrings created, each also featuring a yellow diamond.
What is the Wylde Flower Diamond®?
The patented stone features 81 precisely cut facets, with the eight facets on the base specially crafted to reveal the breathtaking flower-like shape that gives the diamond its name. With our signature design, we ensure a brilliant sparkle and remarkable depth, capturing light from every angle.
