Spring has sprung and so has this little bird! This is an absolutely gorgeous 1930s Swiss-made music box that we had the honour of seeing in the workshop recently. It’s mixed precious-metal box holds a detailed interior with a pop up little bird, with real feathers, that tweets a little song when wound up!
The client gladly consented to let us share this amazing piece of work with you. It is a sterling silver, slight beaten affect music box with automaton bird. It is wound up at the bottom and then activated by pulling a plain ball to action the mechanism inside. The bird pops up out of the oval opening at the top which is made of coloured feathers with wire feet, which swivels and tweets delightfully. See more pictures below!
