Top Story: Are you getting ‘clued up’ for the Wylde Treasure Hunt?
Join Nicholas Wylde’s 30th anniversary celebrations by entering our amazing Wylde Treasure Hunt, around the city centre of beautiful Bath for a chance to win a stunning £10k prize package.

This includes a Wylde Flower Diamond®, a VIP stay at Bath’s luxurious Gainsborough Hotel & Spa, entry to some of Bath’s top tourist attractions, a fabulous selection of gifts for him and her, champagne, afternoon tea, balloon ride and lot’s more still to be announced.

From the 1st June to 31st August we would have hidden seven jewelled treasures in secret locations in Bath’s city centre. The mission – should you choose to take part - requires you to crack the clues, find the treasure, gather the required information and enter the draw where one lucky winner wins all the booty! The trail is located within the city centre and is designed to make it an enjoyable couple of hours leading you around Bath, depending on the pace and time you spend at each location.

It’s easy to take part…

  1. Register to hunt at: wyldetreasure.nicholaswylde.com from March 1st to August 31st 2017

  2.  Starting on April 1st, every new registered ‘Hunter’ will receive the clues immediately. (NB: All pre-registered ‘Hunters’ will also be emailed their clues on that date)

  3. The clues will point you to seven locations

  4. The treasures will be at these locations from June 1st to August 31st

  5. Information found at those seven locations will be required in order to give the correct answer.

The treasures will be on display either in a shop window or within easy access of a non-fee
attraction, Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sundays 11am to 4pm.

No entrance to shops will be needed and on Sundays the actual treasure may not be on
display in all the shops but the information you need to enter the competition will be on
display.

And that’s not all. For more chances to win prizes, like and follow our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for pre-hunt competitions throughout the main event.

To make all this possible, we’re also flying the flag for independent retailers and have partnered up with many of them for the hunt, some of which are donating to the prize package.   You’ll find a complete list when you receive the clues and here’s a selection of just some of them to remind you all to shop local and support the indies! We’ll tell you about more partners next month.

Their kitchen museum shows the actual kitchen used by the legendary young Huguenot baker Sally Lunn in Georgian Bath to create the first Bath bun – an authentic regional speciality now known the world over.

Charlotte Brunswick

Legend has it that Charlotte Brunswick was the first and finest chocolatier in Bath in the 18th century. Born into a family of explorers, Charlotte loved the ingredients they brought home from their travels and experimented to make the bitter Georgian chocolate taste more pleasant.

Today, those original recipes are still inspired by Charlotte’s creations to create exceptional chocolates that standout from the ordinary.

Enjoy a super-large, two-tier box of these delicious chocolates if you successfully win the hunt!

Bespoke: Rings for all fingers, the Superfit way...

A diamond multi-stone ring consisting of a diamond cluster flower head with diamonds grain set onto a raised collet with yellow gold shoulders, a diamond eternity central band with diamonds grain set in yellow gold and a "D" shape 2.5mm wide yellow gold wedding band all combined with a 18ct yellow gold *Superfit™ hinged shank.

A hinged ring that clips onto the finger

We want to ensure that everyone can wear and enjoy the stunning rings we design and incorporate state-of-the-art techniques to make this a reality for some of our clients.

*Superfit™ adjustable shank is a hinged shank with an ingenious positive locking clasp that closes with an audible "click". To open, the customer pushes a small recessed button with the tip of a ball point pen. The shank snaps open and allows the ring to be removed without having to pass over the finger joint.
Proving to be a very popular choice for some clients, the following story illustrates how this device can make a very big difference to newly made rings incorporating much beloved rings of the past.

Rosalind wrote: “Nearly 7 years ago I had to have my wedding ring removed after an operation as my fingers and joints became very swollen and deformed.  That also meant that I could not wear my engagement or eternity rings and I was extremely upset about this as I have been married for 44 years and my wedding ring had never been off my finger before.  I did have them altered and made larger but this only worked in the short term and I soon had to keep them in my jewel box - I never felt happy without them.

Then last November (2016) when having a conversation with someone regarding rings, I was asked if I had done any research on line regarding rings that 'split open'.  This is how I became aware of Superfit and discovered that these could be made at Nicholas Wylde in Bath, so I looked on their website and could not believe my eyes - this could be the answer to my prayers.

We made our way to Nicholas Wylde in Bath taking my rings with me, hoping we might be able to be seen and not have to make an appointment as the website said.  We were so lucky as Nicholas could see us immediately.  He was so helpful, he could see my problem and what I wanted and he has made me a most WONDERFUL RING, incorporating all my rings and it’s just fabulous, so easy to wear and to take off if you need to.

I would truly recommend Nicholas Wylde and Superfit to anyone with problem fingers and joints.”

Wylde & Wonderful commissions: Silver Kilt Pin reflects Celtic heritage
Taking our clients desires and requests and making something highly personal is what we specialise here at Nicholas Wylde and is a forever rewarding aspect of our work.

It’s always exciting to produce something for the first time and that happened recently when one client asked us to create a Kilt Pin.

Maureen said: “For a wonderful Christmas present, Nicholas Wylde was asked to design and make a silver kilt pin to reflect my Irish heritage.  I asked jewellery designer India to incorporate a shamrock with a Celtic ribbon to symbolise the interconnectedness and continual cycling of all things.
I am delighted with the finished kilt pin and feel that India and Nicholas Wylde produced a lovely linear geometric pattern in gorgeous silver which I will treasure forever!”

At Nicholas Wylde we can make anything your imagination can think of, big or small. Bring your own ideas to us and we will transform them into exquisite jewellery, exclusively for you.

April birthstone: Diamond
For those born in the month of April, lucky you, for diamond is your traditional birthstone -  named by the ancient Greeks ‘Splinters of Stars’.
Its exceptional lustre and brilliant fire, together with its strong durability, has seen the coveted diamond long associated with fearlessness but more closely symbolic with love.

Despite being the hardest natural substance known, diamond has a crystalline carbon similar in chemistry to graphite which is one of the softest minerals known. Only a diamond can polish another diamond.

In modern times diamonds are regarded as the perfect token of love and commitment with the tradition of an engagement ring worn on the third finger of the left hand traced back to ancient Egypt. They believed that the vein of love (vena amoris) ran directly from the heart to the top of the left hand’s third finger and placed the precious diamond in its path.

The traditional brilliant cut uses the diamond’s naturally well-formed crystals to make the stone sparkle. The patented Wylde Flower Diamond®, with its 81 precisely cut facets – 24 more than a brilliant cut – makes a diamond sparkle with an intensely passionate fire.

Competition Time: Last chance to ‘Look Back to 1987’ quiz & win a £30 off Wylde voucher!
We’re celebrating 30 years in 2017 and feeling nostalgic by looking back on the year when we first opened our doors (with just 12 rings in our window!)

You can test your own memory and win a £30 off Wylde voucher by taking part in our last ‘Look Back to 1987’ quiz.

Last month received many entries and the correct answers are:
  1. ‘The Joshua Tree’ by U2
  2. 1987 was when Bath was first granted its Unesco World Heritage status
  3. ‘Dirty Dancing’
Congratulations to Paul Foster, our winner this month who wins a £30 Wylde Voucher. Well done on identifying the correct answers. Here are the clues for this final 1987 quiz:

1. In March 1987, Christie’s auction house in London sold a painting from an iconic series of ‘Sunflowers’ images for £24m. Who was the artist?
2. In June, the 15th James Bond movie premiered in London. Who played the secret agent in this year?
On Christmas Day, more than 26 million viewers tuned in to an episode of Coronation Street to bid farewell to a beloved character who had been in the soap for 23 years. What was the name of the character?

Send your answers to david.currie@nicholaswylde.com and the draw will be held on April 24th to select the winning entry that wins the £30 off Wylde voucher. Good luck!
