Top Story: Introducing our brand-new collection for 2016 – ‘Carousel’
|
|
Think of ‘Carousel’ and it may bring to mind a fairground merry-go-round, an airport conveyor system or a medieval tournament. But you’ll also think of bright, vivid colours, exciting movement and good times.
Considering the range and depth of colours found in the precious gem sapphire and the fluid shapes we can design from precious metals, it’s no wonder we named our new 2016 collection ‘Carousel’.
We’ve selected only the very best, vibrantly coloured sapphires and lovingly set them in circular designs of white and yellow gold to create a new Wylde collection of stunning jewellery to make you dizzy with delight!
The collection is made in 18ct yellow and white gold and each set consist of a ring, earrings and pendant in distinctly Wylde design, available in any colour combination you choose. We have also made this new collection in silver sets with an array of colourful semi-precious stones. The Carousel collection prices start from £250.
The collection will receive its official launch at our upcoming in-store sapphire events this November (details follow) but you can browse the entire collection on our website.

Client Story: Eternity brings surprises!
|
|
We are very good at keeping secrets here at Nicholas Wylde, as one lady discovered recently.
Joel & Hayley Lucy celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in September and Joel wanted to arrange a surprise eternity ring for his wife.
He came into us to discuss his ideas and we designed an exquisite white gold eternity ring, flush set with diamonds.
On the actual day on their anniversary, Joel brought Hayley into our Bath store – with the guise of just saying hello to a staff member – and was presented with a glass of bubbly and then, the sparkly presentation from Joel which came as a total surprise to Hayley!
Joel said: “I can’t praise everyone at Nicholas Wylde enough for such a wonderful service; I’d been thinking about purchasing an eternity ring for my wife as a gift for our 10th wedding anniversary for some time, only simply couldn’t find anything that was special enough for what I wanted.
Someone suggested that I consider Nicholas Wylde in Bath and following a consultation at the branch with designer India, where I was shown various eternity ring materials and style options, I was quickly sent several ring designs to match my input and budget. The process of choosing the ring was incredibly easy as everything was mirrored by my expressed preference during the consultation.
I was totally overwhelmed with the end result, India had produced something that not only I was extremely pleased with, but my wife was completelybowled-over with when presented with this surprise gift!”
We wish them all the best for their continued happiness…

October birthstone: Opal
|
|
For those of you born in the month of October, opal is your birthstone.
Opal is a hardened silica gel, containing up to 10 per cent water and formed in cavities within rocks. There are two varieties: precious opal – the most desirable, which shows flashes of colour (iridescence) – and the common or ‘potch’ opal.
Until the 19th Century, Slovakia was the primary source of origin until large deposits were found in Australia, including the rare and prized black opal.
Australian opal has often been cited as accounting for 95–97% of the world's supply of precious opal. Recent data suggests that the world supply of precious opal may have changed. In 2012, Ethiopian opal production was estimated to be 14,000 kg, for example.
Through historic folklore, opal was believed to bring the wearer the power of invisibility, to bring happy dreams and to ease the process of change.

And finally: Indie shops - reasons to be spending local...
|
|
There are many good reasons why supporting your independent retailers makes sense on so many levels. So many, in fact, we’ve had to create a series of them for this newsletter! Here’s another three reasons why shopping indie is always the best choice....
|
|
1. You will be supporting local British entrepreneurs
Artisan markets help foster the talents of the next generation of British designers and retailers as hotbeds of innovation. When you buy from an independent store, you are supporting an entrepreneur who decided to take a risk and offer something different to the local community. By shopping indie you are helping to build a sense of community.
2. You are not just entering a shop...
Many independents store owners use visual merchandising as a way to express their own creativity, which makes each store unique and extremely personal to the business owner. This is usually noticed the
moment you walk through the door with the amount of thought, effort and endless hours that have been dedicated into building these havens of imagination.
3. You are building a direct relationship with the retailer
Each indie store owner is responsible for sourcing or even creating their own product lines offering unlimited choices. If you are a regular, the shop owner will come to know you personally and this
will make your shopping experience a lot more satisfying and enjoyable.
