title ico Website Evolution! Facing the Future!
550 px image
At Nicholas Wylde we always have one eye on the future. This includes incorporating classic and modern designs for our bespoke jewellery service, always thinking how we can push ideas forward to accommodate customers’ requests and desires, but also how we reach out and make new people aware of the artistry of Nicholas Wylde, the uniqueness of our service and our exclusive patented Wylde Flower Diamond.

So we are currently planning an extensive and major overhaul of all our social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and our own official website

We aim to make our updated and relaunched website visually attractive, informative, entertaining, while easy to navigate and a place that viewers would like to return to on a regular basis.

It will contain and show to great effect all our collections, in detail with stunning photographs, news stories past and present and a great deal more.

We always listen to our customers first so we’re putting out an open invitation for suggestions of how we can achieve this future-facing new website experience.

What do you like about our current site? What elements work for you and what do you think doesn’t work? What would you like to see and experience when you visit our website? More photos? Videos showing how our wonderful creations are brought to life? Would you like to see the human faces behind such creations – their stories and their “shining moments” of working at Nicholas Wylde?

Please feel free to join in the debate by sending any suggestions/comments on how we can improve our website to and help us create an internet experience that will sparkle as much as our beautiful creations!

Not many cars can claim to be worth their weight in gold – especially after you’ve driven them away from the showroom but a notable customer commission proved the exception to the rule ...

One clients’ passion for motors lead to Nicholas Wylde creating a collection of miniature vehicles, all cast in gold, ranging from Mercedes to Ferraris. These lovingly-crafted precious objects were happy at home with the client until a recent event caused one of them to return to the Bath store in need of repair and attention.

A Ferrari 360 Modena Spyder replica, measuring 10cm long and weighing 236 grams, cast in sold 9ct gold with diamond headlights and ruby backlights, fell victim to the actions of an overzealous cleaner at the clients’ home which resulted in a broken front light and windscreen wiper.

While back in the workshop, as well as repairing the broken headlight, the Ferrari replica also underwent a total MOT to restore its glory, which included windshield cleaning and a complete polish.

Nicholas commented: “We love the challenges of creating unique and highly personal commissions for our clients and enjoy when our combined visions join together in harmony. Our artisans are ready and able for their talents to be tested and we have created many different objects for clients in precious metals and stones including cars, bikes, helicopters and even personal pets!

Whatever you can imagine, for whatever occasion, we can realise it for you – so get thinking and book an appointment to discuss your own, personal, perfectly precious object of desire.”

European Green Capital for 2015

Bristol was recently crowned European Green Capital at a ceremony in Nantes, France. The city beat competition from Brussels in Belgium, Glasgow and Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, to win the accolade. The title rewards cities which consistently achieve high environmental standards and are committed to further improvement. Nicholas said: “We are proud to have been a part of Bristol’s retail scene for the past five years and look forward to continuing this for the next 25 years! By that time, Bristol may well be the Greenest city in the world.”

title ico Opal Event in October
550 px image
This coming October will see an Opal Event happening in both Bath & Bristol Nicholas Wylde stores.

The Opal is one of Nicholas’ favourite gemstones and his affection for the stone will be evident in the events planned. These include a display of unique and rare opals; a cutting and polishing demonstration and small groups coming together for personal Q&A sessions along with afternoon tea! There will also be opal-themed events planned for early evenings accompanied with nibbles.

Despite the fact that we’re all enjoying July sunshine at the moment and October seems a long way off, places for the events are filling up fast and if you’re interested in attending we would advise registering your interest sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. All October opal events are completely free and if you wish to reserve a place, please contact and specify which store (Bath or Bristol) and time of day (afternoon or early evening) that would suit.

In the Middle Ages, opal was considered a stone that could provide great luck as it was believed to possess all the virtues of each gemstone whose colour was represented in the colour spectrum of the opal. In mythology, opal was said to confer the power of invisibility if wrapped in a fresh bay leaf and held in hand.

Opal is considered the birthstone for people born in October or under the signs of Scorpio and Libra.

"The gleaming Ruby should adorn,

All those who in July are born,

For thus they'll be exempt and free,

From lover's doubts and anxiety."

The traditional colour associated with the Ruby is the deep red colour and was strongly favoured as a popular gem in Victorian jewellery. The symbolic meaning of the colour red was of fire and was associated with power and importance. The word Ruby is derived from the Latin word "ruber" meaning "red”. A precious stone of a carmine red colour, sometimes verging to violet, it is a red crystallized variety of corundum. The Ruby is a member of the Corundum family. Crystal structure of the Ruby is Hexagonal . Rubies are extremely hard, second only to diamonds.
