We are delighted to be sponsoring an egg in the first ever Egg Hunt being organised by the Theatre Royal in recognition of The Egg's 10th anniversary.

Our egg has been designed and created by local artist John Gould ( and measures 12" x 8". The shell has embossed sections which gives a 3D element and features crystals.

Nicholas says "After our initial meeting to discuss the design of this egg, I am delighted with John's tremendous efforts to create a magnificent egg to reflect the beauty of diamonds and flowers.

All the eggs will be displayed at The Egg auditorium on Friday 20th March from 4pm. Our egg has been inspired by the beautiful Wylde Flower Diamond®. You may like to call in and take a look at these unique cut diamonds, many of which are set into the exclusive Nicholas Wylde collections. Our bespoke design service offers customers the chance to have the Wylde Flower Diamond® incorporated into a unique piece of jewellery. We are always happy to discuss any ideas and to offer our expect advice, so if you're interested, please come and visit us.

More about the egg hunt follows:-

The Egg Hunt (#theegghunt) takes place across Bath during the Easter holidays as part of The Egg's 10th Birthday celebrations. For three weeks from 21st March until 11th April, local residents and visitors are invited to track down twenty-five decorated eggs which will be hidden across the city centre. Free egg hunt maps will be available from the egg theatre's café, Bath Library, Bath's Visitor Centre and can be downloaded. The only egg which will not be marked on the map is the 'Golden Egg'. It will be down to egg hunters to deduce where that has been hidden.

The #theegghunt maps will feature questions for participants to answer whilst they search for the hidden eggs, and egg hunters are encouraged to post pictures on facebook and twitter. Maps complete with answers will be entered into a prize draw. The first 100 handed in at The Egg reception will receive a handmade treat courtesy of the San Francisco Fudge Factory.

#theegghunt ends with a draw on the 11th April when one lucky winner will receive the 'Golden Egg' to keep, as well as tickets for both The Egg's Christmas show and the Theatre Royal Bath's pantomime.

Kate Cross, Director of The Egg theatre, said, "Staging an interactive, community egg hunt seemed the perfect way to launch The Egg's 10th birthday celebrations. It's free of charge and open to everyone, and we are delighted that so many local businesses are joining in by sponsoring eggs across the city centre. Since The Egg theatre opened in 2005 it has become a real focal point for young families in Bath and we hope that lots of children and visitors will have great fun taking part in #theegghunt this Easter."

Others who are supporting #theegghunt by sponsoring an egg, are: Guildhall Market Traders, Up to Seven, San Francisco Fudge Factory, My Small World, Green Park Brasserie, Stride Treglown, Zenith International, Bath Building Society, Kingswood School, The Royal High School Bath, Monkton Combe School, Moss of Bath, Milsted Langdon, Ora et Labora, The Francis Hotel and The Framing Workshop.

The eggs have been produced locally by Westbury-based Fibreglass Applications.

"A March born shall always be
Soothed by Aqua, gem of sea
This mermaid's treasured stone you wear
Will bring happiness, love, affection and care."

For those who were born in the month of March the Aquamarine is the traditional birthstone. Aquamarine is part of the Beryl family of gemstones which includes emeralds. The name aquamarine means 'Water of the Sea' and refers to its blue-green colour. The best gem quality aquamarine is from Brazil and a sky blue or dark blue colour is the most desirable.
