Emeralds are a beautiful gemstone that have been prized for their stunning green colour and durability for centuries. In mythology and folklore, emeralds were believed to possess a number of mystical properties. Ancient Egyptians believed that emeralds represented rebirth and fertility, and were associated with the goddess Isis. They also believed that emeralds could cure diseases, protect against evil spirits, and enhance one’s intelligence and memory. In ancient Rome, emeralds were believed to be a symbol of Venus, the goddess of love and beauty. They were often used in jewellery to represent love and were believed to promote fertility and happiness in relationships.

As well as being the birthstone for May, emeralds are sometimes given as a gift to commemorate a 20th or 35th wedding anniversary

For centuries diamonds have fascinated and enthralled civilisations throughout the world, inspiring myths and legends. These precious stones have long been associated with virtues such as power, wealth, strength and love. If you are lucky enough to have an April birthday, you may know that diamonds are your birthstone! They are said to represent strength, resilience, and clarity of thought, and are also thought to enhance one’s inner strength and bring balance to one’s life. It is believed that wearing a diamond can promote feelings of happiness, joy, and optimism, and can help alleviate feelings of fear and anxiety.

As well as being the birthstone for May, emeralds are sometimes given as a gift to commemorate a 20th or 35th wedding anniversary.

Ring size & Engraving

Choosing the correct ring size

Choosing the correct ring size is very important. If your ring does not fit properly it is like wearing the wrong size shoes, uncomfortable and increases the chance of you losing your ring.

At Nicholas Wylde we train all our staff to recommend the best fit for the style of ring. The best fit can depend on so many factors including if you prefer a tight or loose fit. As your finger can alter in size over several weeks, we would recommend to wear it for that long to see if the average comfort is good. Read more ...
