OUR REPAIR WORK
We have workshops at both our Bath and Bristol shops where our talented goldsmiths carry out all jewellery repairs and commission work. They have many years of experience between them and have repaired a wide variety of jewellery and objet d’art.
Although we specialise in the repair of items made from precious metals, we can often repair pieces of costume jewellery.
A quotation can be given for the repair of any item brought into the shop and most items are repaired on the premises. Need something repaired in a rush, or only in town for one day? Rings can be resized, restored, repaired (claws and other worn areas), remounted or have stones replaced. We can repair chains that are broken, stretched or have worn clasp/receivers. Countless other repairs and restorations can be undertaken – just ask us!
LASERING
We regularly introduce cutting-edge innovations to ensure our jewellery and associated services we offer are second to none. Our motto has always been ‘If we can’t repair it, nobody can’ and this technology further supports this statement, by enabling us to perform repair work on the most difficult jobs that other jewellers would struggle with.
Our laser welder means that we can weld precious and non-precious metals together without relying on the conventional methods of torch heat, which can sometimes cause damage from overheating, or necessitate the removal of gemstones to perform the repair. The laser can weld around gemstones, and can also do repairs on silver, which is the most difficult precious metal due to its high reflectivity.
The Process
Make your appointment with us – we love to see our clients in our stores, where we will greet you with a smile and a warm welcome. If you can’t make it to Bath or Clifton – not a problem! We are always happy to carry out appointments via video call on the platform of your choice.
Our skilled, fully trained members of staff will examine your item of jewellery and work out a quote for the repair work as you wait. Our prices are fixed, transparent and competitive.
Most basic repairs can be carried out in 7 days, others in 2-3 weeks. We do offer a same-day quick repair or sizing service, on a 1hr or 3hr turnaround, at an extra charge.
Our expert workshop teams, based on site in both the Bath and Bristol stores, will carry out all of the required work to an impeccable standard.
Your repair will be checked over thoroughly, and once we are happy to release it, you will be contacted to arrange collection of your item.
Once it has been restored to its former glory, your jewellery will come with a 1-year manufacturing guarantee, unless otherwise stated.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is your usual timescale for carrying out repairs
Basic ring sizing and chain repairs usually take one week. Any slightly more difficult repairs usually take two weeks, and any repair that requires sourcing a stone may take three weeks or more.
Our staff are trained to ask when would you like to collect the repair and endeavour to confirm a collection date with you, within the boundaries of the type of repair.
Can you offer same day repairs
Same-day repairs can usually be undertaken, although there is an extra charge for the service. Examples of repairs which can usually be carried out on the same day are ring sizing, chain repairs, cleaning and polishing – however, please feel free to ask our staff about any other potential same-day repair. Same-day repairs can be brought in between 10.15am and 4pm. We would recommend pre-arranging an appointment to guarantee this service.
Our charges are as follows, and are in addition to the cost of the repair:
1 hour Service – £40
3 hour Service – £25
Do you offer a guarantee for your repair work
We offer a 1 year guarantee on all repairs unless stated on receipt of the item.
Can you re-string a necklace for me
We do offer a re-stringing service. We recommend that you restring anything you wear on a regular basis every three years. This is due to the silk of the string becoming stretched and weak. We use one of the best stringing companies in the UK, offering a fast and reliable service of approximately 10 days, with a one year guarantee.
We can offer an urgent five-day service, but there would be an additional charge for this.
We can also quote to supply new beads or pearls if needed, and can string with pearl silk, elastic or metal wire. We can also clean the beads of pearls before they are restrung, at a small cost.
In most cases we can provide a quote to you when you bring the item to us and advise you of your likely collection date.
