orgeous jewellery, beautiful art, knowledgable and friendly staff and a Wylde Flower Diamond heart.
We have workshops at both our Bath and Bristol shops where we have talented goldsmiths who carry out all jewellery repairs and commissions work. They have many years of experience between them and have repaired a wide variety of jewellery and objet d’art. Although we specialise in the repair of items made from precious metals, we can often repair pieces of costume jewellery. A quotation can be given for the repair of any item brought into the shop and most items are repaired on the premises. Same day repairs are usually possible. Stones can be sourced and replaced where missing, rings can be sized up or down, chains can be soldered, clasps can be replaced and countless other repairs can be undertaken.
New lasering technology has certainly helped the jewellery trade. The latest equipment allows us to repair jewellery that previously was either very costly to repair or impossible to do. We no longer need to remove stones. With a laser welder we do not apply any heat to large areas and we can laser precious or non precious metals. Do you have an item of jewellery which needs repairing? Why not call in to get expert advice on this service?
It looks a little like a Star Wars droid character but this new piece of equipment that’s recently landed in our Bath workshop is the very latest in tabletop laser welding machines.
Our motto has always been ‘If we can’t repair it, no-one can’ and this technology furthers this statement by enabling us to perform repair work on the most difficult jobs that other jewellers would struggle with.
The Neutec Studio Plus is a small but very powerful laser capable of welding precious and non-precious metals together without relying on conventional methods of torch heat, which can sometimes cause damage from over-heating or necessitate the removal of gems to perform the repair.
The laser can weld around gemstones and also do repairs on silver, which is the most difficult precious metal to weld due to its high reflectivity but this machine makes it easy.
The laser is designed for all jewellery making and repair work, including re-tipping, re-sizing, prong repairs, chain repairs plus many other tricky jobs.
Another example of the cutting-edge innovations we’re regularly introducing to ensure our jewellery and services are second to none.
We recommend that you retire anything you wear on a regular basis every three years. This is due to the silk of the string becoming stretched and weak. We use one on the best stringing companies in the UK offering a fast and reliable service with a one year guarantee.
Please call to see how we can help you. We can advise and supply new clasps or even check and repair your own.

Read what one recent client had to say below:
“I came to Nicholas Wylde after looking for a local jeweller who made super fit rings. I have a condition called Dupytrons, which affects my fingers and has left me unable to buy an off the shelf ring. After having operations I had to have my original wedding ring cut off and as my finger was at least 4 sizes bigger and the ring hexagonal it was not possible to have it mended. Also I had an old ring, inherited from my late father’s side of the family, which I wanted to use.
It was our 30 th wedding anniversary this year and to mark the occasion my husband wanted to buy me a replacement wedding ring. Therefore we had an appointment with, a very professional and extremely patient, Nicholas who designed this beautiful ring.
He listened to all my requirements and came up with this amazing unique design. Thank you very much.” – Mrs Jill Crowhurst
